West Bank Sees Major Settlement Expansion Amidst Gaza War

In a move widely condemned by Palestinian officials and international human rights groups, the Israeli government announced plans to establish 22 new illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. This includes the retroactive legalization of several unauthorized outposts. Palestinian presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh called the decision a “dangerous escalation” and a “challenge to international legitimacy,” warning that it further harms the prospects for a future Palestinian state. This expansion comes as global attention remains heavily focused on the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
